We made a huge announcement.
This isn’t just about better materials. It’s about building a better supply chain. We’re officially rolling out our Gen 2 product lineup, a new generation of high-performance magnesium cement building materials, made in North America using ZS2’s patented low-carbon formulation and process.
In just five years, we’ve transformed a lab-scale innovation into a commercially scalable platform. Our Gen 2 materials are now manufactured using domestically sourced inputs, with verified fire performance and a supply chain built for North American resiliency.
This expanded lineup builds on the trusted performance of our Gen 1 products and includes:
- ZS2 TechStone™ Lightweight MgO stone facade, veneer, and cladding for durable, impact-resistant, fire-rated exterior applications
- ZS2TechTile™ 2×2 Non-combustible, low-carbon raised flooring system ideal for data center construction
- ZS2TechBoard™ 3×5 Backer Board Wet-rated interior magnesium cement board for tiled walls, showers, and utility spaces
- ZS2TechBoard™ 4×8 Structural Sheathing Lightweight, high-strength sheathing panel for walls and ceilings with proven fire and moisture resistance
We’re not just making better materials. We’re cementing our role in the future of construction.
CMHC x ZS2: Scaling What Works
CMHC and Impact Canada stopped by ZS2 to spotlight how we’re helping solve one of Canada’s biggest challenges—building more housing, faster, and without compromise. This new feature video explores how ZS2’s magnesium cement technology is being used to rethink construction from the ground up, combining resilience, speed, and sustainability in one system.
Our Director of Marketing & Communications, Tyra Jarbeau, sat down with the CMHC team to share how we’re using the $1.1 million awarded in Round 4 of the Housing Supply Challenge to scale production and remove barriers across the housing supply chain.
We believe the best way to prove it works is to build it ourselves. Now you can take a look inside.
Filmed at our Calgary facility, the video offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how we design, test, and manufacture smarter building systems—all under one roof.
Thank you to CMHC, the National Housing Strategy, and the Government of Canada for supporting real innovation in housing.
One Technology. Multiple Generations.
From wildfires to floods to rapidly changing code requirements, the built environment is under pressure. Builders, architects, engineers, and developers are being asked to do more with less time, fewer resources, and tighter margins.
ZS2’s magnesium cement materials are built to meet that challenge.
- Gen 1: Tested, certified, and optimized for scalable prefab construction
- Gen 2: Domestic production with active commercial scale-up and increased availability
Our materials don’t just meet code. They solve real-world project pain points.

What It Looks Like to Build Better
It looks like faster builds, stronger materials, lower footprints, and real results on the ground.
From Oregon to the Northwest Territories, ZS2 materials are being used across North America to solve some of construction’s toughest challenges, proving what’s possible when you combine innovation with execution.
Here’s how our TechPanel® system is helping builders and developers deliver high-quality, resilient projects that are built to last.
🔹 Breath of Life Medford | Oregon
TechPartner Promised Land Spotlight
Currently in manufacturing, this 42-unit affordable housing development in South Medford selected ZS2 TechPanel® to accelerate construction and reduce site waste. Panels arrive pre-assembled and ready for rapid installation, minimizing delays and maximizing sustainability. With rooftop solar systems projected to meet over 80% of residents’ energy needs, the project is targeting a net-zero energy rating while delivering durable, high-quality homes for the local community.
🔹 Kuponya Tiny Home | Northwest Territories
Climate-Resilient and Remote-Ready
Built offsite and assembled within days, this turnkey tiny home was designed for one of the harshest climates in Canada. Kuponya Innovations partnered with ZS2 to deliver a solution that could withstand extreme cold and high winds, while also being energy efficient and deployable in remote regions. This project proves what’s possible when high-performance materials meet thoughtful, community-driven design.
🔹 Resource-Efficient Poultry Coop | Alberta
AG Application, Optimized for Animal Welfare
This agricultural project used ZS2 TechPanel® to create a stable, insulated environment that supports poultry health and egg production. Designed to maintain consistent internal temperatures through Alberta’s seasonal extremes, the panels reduce heating and cooling demands while increasing operational cost certainty. A win for both performance and animal welfare.
🔹 Tataskweyak Nation Transition Centre | Split Lake, MB
Prefab Efficiency in Extreme Cold
In one of Canada’s most remote and challenging climates, a 10-unit transitional housing development was built using ZS2 TechPanel® for walls, roof, and floor assemblies. Installed mid-winter with no delays, this project delivered urgently needed housing while ensuring long-term energy efficiency, lower operating costs, and resilience against -30°C temperatures.
